Apperian Engages in Universal Distribution of Mobile App Management
FREMONT, CA: Of all the channels available today for mobile app distribution, the Mobile Application Management (MAM) provider Apperian claims to embrace nearly all of them. The private enterprise app store previously utilized by the vendor is now disengaged from the MAM services for supporting companies to market their product in a way chosen by them, which includes: Mobile device management, Enterprise Mobility Management, existing private apps or even with the file sharing systems. “We are determined to offer the most optimized solutions for mobile app distributions in a securely managed way,” says Mark Lorion, Chief Marketing Officer, Apperian.
The list of distribution channels as mentioned by Apperian includes:
Existing MDM or EMM environments: Apperian allows companies to create customized policies for devices already deployed with Airwatch, Good, IBM MaaS360, MobileIron or other MDM or EMM products.
Private Application Stores & Corporate Portals: Companies with self owned app stores or with a third party private app store can use the Apperians MAM and policy engine.
Distribution to Non-Managed devices: Apperian supports direct download links in mails or other direct communication for organizations requiring only a few apps to be deployed.
The method of applying a policy directly to the mobile application instead of engaging devices under MDM control is an idea well acclaimed by Chris Hazelton of 451 Research. It does not demand a user profile to be installed on devices—that makes the app an independent entity complete with all security features and policies. “The applications entail all the security and management requirements even if the device isn’t managed,” adds Lorion.
